A charity that assists emergency services in locating missing people has opened a new base of operations.

Northamptonshire Search and Rescue opened its facility in Lamport on Saturday.

The volunteer-led organisation said the new site would provide enhanced training facilities and equipment storage, and help strengthen the group's "ability to support emergency incidents and community safety across the region".

A spokesperson said: "This facility represents not only a major investment in our operational capability, but also the strength of the community spirit that underpins everything we do."

An opening event for the new base was attended by volunteers, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and Northamptonshire Police.
