Agricultural show takes extra heatwave precautions
Getty ImagesThe organisers of an agricultural show have put extra measures in place to help visitors and exhibitors cope with the heat.
Temperatures at Newport Show in Shropshire on Saturday are forecast to exceed 30C (86F) and the event said it had been "working closely with exhibitors, competitors and contractors" to prepare.
The measures include additional shaded areas, extra water supplies and a dog paddling pool.
There will also be extra refrigeration facilities for caterers to store their food safely.
There will be shaded areas will be for dogs, horses and livestock and the organisers said the welfare of both animals and visitors was a priority.
The show also said it would offer advice and support to competitors, to help them look after their animals in the heat.
It encouraged visitors to come prepared by wearing a hat, applying sunscreen and bringing a refillable water bottle.
As well as the livestock competitions, the Newport Show said it planned to hold the UK's first national brownie competition, with separate classes for amateur bakers and commercial or professional bakers.
There will also be the first Newport Chilli Challenge, which invites growers to compete to produce the best chillies.

- Wyre Valley Axemen demonstrations
- Polaris off-road test rides
- Viking activities in the Education Hub
There will also be live cooking demonstrations, wine tasting and live music.
