Do not speculate about girl's death, public asked
BBCPeople have been urged not to speculate over the unexplained death of an 11-year-old girl.
It comes after West Mercia Police confirmed no third party was being sought in connection with the incident in Elmley Castle, near Evesham, Worcestershire.
The girl's body was discovered in a park near the village cricket ground after she was reported missing at about 23:20 BST on Sunday.
Harriet Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, asked for people not to speculate on the "very sad matter"
Ch Insp Daniel Pilkington said: "We understand the death of a young girl will have caused considerable sadness and concern within Elmley Castle and the wider community.
"Officers are continuing to work to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and, while we keep an open mind as those inquiries progress, there is nothing at this stage to suggest there is any wider risk to the community."
Baldwin said in a Facebook post: "There has been a great deal of media interest regarding this incident and I would encourage people not to speculate on this very sad matter.
"I am assured that once the facts are known West Mercia Police will make a further statement."
The force said the girl's death was still "being treated as unexplained".
