A court order will see the property closed off until into 2027

A property has been closed off for three months after its tenant "caused significant distress to other residents", prompting a police intervention.

Northamptonshire Police said its neighbourhood policing team in Wellingborough had been responding to reports of anti-social behaviour and drug dealing at the Priory Road property, on the Kingsway estate, for more than a year.

Despite warnings from officers and the housing association - which owns the property - the tenant continued to shout and verbally abuse other residents, police said.

The force said a closure order for the property had been granted by Northampton Magistrates' Court and would be in place until 14 January 2027.

They warned that any unauthorised person who accesses the house before that date is liable to arrest and, if convicted, could face a fine or up to 51 weeks in prison.

PC Lydia Chamberlain said: "I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this case, especially the Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team whose local knowledge and community engagement led to the successful application of the court order."
