Local businesses sell sky blue snacks amid promotion fever
Gemma GloverA local bakery and butcher are celebrating Coventry City's promotion hopes as the team is .
The team at Stoke Bakery has created dozens of Coventry City-themed creations, including cupcakes, iced buns and a whole team of Sky Blues gingerbread men.
Gemma Glover, cake manager, said they were also in the process of baking a "super Frank Lampard" gingerbread man, depicting the Coventry City boss, and it was set to be larger than a sheet of A4.
Elsewhere in the city, Paul Reid is attempting to make Sky Blue sausages at Farmhouse Butchers, in Coventry Market.
Reid said: "My first attempt with food dye didn't go well. But I tried again using turkey meat and the sausage skins sitting in dye overnight.
"I'm not a Sky Blues fan, but my head butcher is. We're all keeping our fingers crossed."
Dan MorganGlover, at Stoke Bakery, said the shop's baked goods were "flying" off the shelves.
She said: "As soon as we're putting them on the shelves they're selling out and we've got orders coming through on the website literally every single minute for more stuff," she said.
"Everyone's seen it and everyone's coming down to support, which is so nice."
Glover said it was her colleague Megan's idea to create the gingerbread football team.
"We edit them all... print them all onto edible paper and then they're all hand cut," she said of the biscuits.
Gemma GloverGlover said the bakery had previously created themed goods when the Sky Blues took part in the play-offs in the past.
"This time doing it knowing that it's pretty certain that we're definitely going up, it just feels even better doing it, knowing that we're not doing it for a play-off game, we're doing it because we're basically there," she said.
"We're just thinking of everything different that we can turn sky blue to be honest - because why not?"
