A man in his 40s who fell a number of floors within a bar in Birmingham has died, police have confirmed.

Henman & Cooper, a rooftop bar in the city centre, posted on Facebook on Sunday that due to "unforeseen circumstances" it would be closed that evening and apologised.

On Monday, West Midlands Police, who were called to Colmore Row at about 18:20 BST on Sunday, said the man was taken to hospital, but had since died.

The death was not being treated as suspicious and a report was being prepared for the coroner, the force added.

Police said their thoughts were with "his loved ones at this awful time".

The BBC have approached the venue for further comment.
