Santiago de Compostela is a destination for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year
The Spanish fair was held in Reading's Broad Street on Saturday

A newly-marked pilgrimage route between the UK and Spain has been celebrated at a Spanish fair in Reading, Berkshire.

St James' Way is a 68-mile (110km) trail, launched in 2022, following a possible path taken by medieval pilgrims from Reading Abbey ruins to Southampton via Winchester.

It is one of several accredited Camino routes to Santiago de Compostela, which attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year.

Saturday's fair in Broad Street was organised by groups including the Confraternity of St James and Spanish tourism authorities and included music, dancers and information about the trail.
