Cat put down after being shot in eye with airgun
Darlington PoliceA cat had to be put down after being shot with an air weapon, police have said.
Four-year-old Rory returned to his Darlington home with a "significant" eye injury on 29 May.
He was taken to a vet, who confirmed that he still had a pellet lodged in his eye.
Durham Police said that that the severity of his injury meant he had to be put to sleep.
A force spokesman said the weapon used was likely to have been a BB gun or air rifle.
