Man arrested after six-hour police stand-off in Perth

Emergency services were on the scene for six hours

A man has been arrested after a six-hour stand-off with emergency services in Perth.

Police were called to the corner of Atholl Street and North Methven Street at about 17:30 on Wednesday to reports of items being thrown from the window of an upper-floor flat.

Riot officers entered a flat shortly before midnight and arrested a 56-year-old man.

He was charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court later.

A large emergency service presence was in place throughout the evening, including a police negotiator, the fire service, and units from the Special Operation Response Team of the ambulance service.

Atholl Street and North Methven Street were closed, reopening at about 23:40.
