Sex offender who abused girls jailed for 17 years
Suffolk PoliceA child sex offender who abused two girls has been jailed for 17 years.
Adriaan Spenkelink was caught after his victims told detectives at Suffolk Police what had happened to them.
The 41-year-old, of Bulwer Road in Ipswich, was found guilty of seven sexual offences - including attempted rape - at Ipswich Crown Court and was jailed on Friday.
"It is because of their bravery that Spenkelink's predatory behaviour was exposed," Det Sgt Katie Leckie said of the victims.
The girls were under the age of 13 when Spenkelink abused them and were not known to each other.
After a five-day trial, jurors found him guilty of:
- Attempted rape
- Two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- Two offences of causing a child to watch a sexual act
- Two counts of sexual assault of a child
Leckie said: "By denying the charges against him, he forced the victims to relive their experiences through a trial and demonstrated a blatant disregard for the impact of his actions."
Spenkelink will serve a year on licence upon his release from prison and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 25 years.
