Dispersal order in force in part of city
GoogleA dispersal order is in force in an area of Oxford following a series of car thefts.
Thames Valley Police said the order was put in place on Sunday at 17:30 BST for 48 hours in the North Oxford area.
It follows ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour and several arrests that took place over the weekend in connection with a series of thefts of vehicles in the neighbourhood.
A section 34 dispersal order gives officers additional powers to make individuals leave the area. Any failure to comply can result in an arrest and further police action.
The dispersal order applies to Banbury Road between Victoria Road and Frideswide Road.
The border of the affected area runs east, skirting the Oxford Hawks hockey pitches, Wolvercote cricket pitch, and the Summertown Stars FC football pitches.
It continues south to the River Cherwell, and the river forms the eastern boundary back to Victoria Road.
"We appreciate the community's cooperation as we work to reduce anti-social behaviour and keep North Oxford safe," police said.
