Plans for a new micro-pub celebrating Mansfield's mining heritage have been approved.

Mansfield District Council gave the green light on Friday for the new venue in Clipstone Road West in Forest Town.

Planning documents submitted by the applicant said the "community-focused" venue - called The Coal Bucket – would be located in the former Sally's Cafe and the Soybos African Shop units.

The venue was given planning permission under conditions including that it must operate with reduced opening hours between 10:00 BST and 23:00 BST and that it will not be allowed to play amplified music.

Planning documents said the interior design would celebrate local mining history in a manner that "adds character and identity to the premises".

A "small" beer garden linked to the venue must also close at 21:00 BST, documents added.
