Crews tackle house fire which spreads to roofs

The blaze spread to at least two houses

Firefighters have tackled a blaze which badly damaged at least two houses.

Bedfordshire Fire Service was called to Winchester Road in Sandy at about 14:00 BST.

Residents nearby were advised to keep their windows and doors shut, while the road was closed for several hours.

Crews were able to leave the scene by about 19:30, said a fire service spokesperson.
