Man jailed for multiple child sexual offences

A man has been jailed for 18 years after sexually assaulting two children on several occasions, according to police.

William Lynas, 84, from Spalding, was found guilty by a jury of 13 sexual offences including assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Lincolnshire Police said the offences took place between the 1980s and 2023 and he was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court earlier.

Det Con Victoria Oaks, who led the investigation, said Lynas, who had previously denied all the offences, "caused real harm and will deservedly spend a long time behind bars".

Lynas was placed on the sex offenders register for life and given an indefinite restraining order in relation to both victims.

On top of his 18-year-sentence, Lynas also has an additional year he will spend on extended license.
