Police investigation after county signs taken
PA MediaA police investigation is under way after road signs marking the boundary of Rutland were removed without permission.
Rutland County Council said following a series of checks and a full audit it discovered 10 signs had been taken - prompting the authority to take down 17 as a precaution.
According to the council, the signs would remain in storage while officials "assess options for their replacement or reinstatement".
The Local Democracy Reporting Service said the council was first made aware of the missing signs in late July, after their absence was noted on roads from Braunston to Knossington, Braunston to Withcote and Knossington to Oakham.
Leicestershire Police told the BBC inquiries were under way following reports that signs had been removed.
It said no arrests had been made.
