Football stadium to host first concert
HandoutA purpose-built football stadium is to host its first music concert.
The £10m Victoria Park development in Guernsey, which opened in March, was funded by the Premier League, the FA, the Football Foundation and private donations.
The aim for the 2,500-plus capacity stadium was for it to serve as a "central hub for community sport and social engagement".
In August it will host the Guernsey-based Oasis tribute band, O'Eh'Sis, whose members described being able to perform there as "an honour".
Band member Tyler Edmonds said: "I just looked at it and thought Oasis and stadiums are the perfect mix, so it's got to happen."
"We are getting the biggest stage on the island, and everyone loves a stadium gig."
Band partner Callum Aitken described feeling "pride" when he first walked into Victoria Park.
"Being from Guernsey gave me pride in the place and it makes this feel as if we're coming together to celebrate the island."
