Overnight road closures mark end of £54m works
City of York CouncilA month of overnight road closures will mark the final part of a multimillion-pound highways project at the front of York's railway station.
The last phase of the scheme, set to begin on Monday, includes a new road layout, cycle lanes and footways, as well as upgraded bus stops and new public spaces.
City of York Council said work to finish the carriageway surfacing around the station would take place during four phases of closures, between 20:00 BST and 06:00 BST, from 1 to 26 June, with roads reopening during the day.
Councillor Kate Ravilious said the completed final stages would see "fantastic open spaces for everyone to enjoy".
People have been urged to plan ahead over the coming weeks, with travel information published for all transport modes to help access York city centre and the station.

BBC/RICHARD EDWARDSRavilious, the council's executive member for transport, said: "We are doing all we can to minimise disruption, including detailed planning and sharing this information to help people to plan ahead.
"As with the previous Queen Street closures, we are encouraging everyone to plan their journey ahead and help reduce traffic congestion by using public transport, walking and cycling where possible."
The council emphasised that the station and nearby businesses would remain open during the work.
A spokesperson said buses would continue to run, though some routes would be diverted during night closures, when free shuttle buses would operate between Blossom Street and the railway station.
Work on the regeneration at the front of York Station, which started in 2023 with an initial budget of about £26m, will conclude with the completion of the new road layout and walking, cycling and bus infrastructure.
Works were originally set to finish in May last year, but are now due to be completed this summer.
An audit in March found the project had gone £28.5m over budget.
