Studio makes game free for 10th anniversary

Two Point Studios has made its latest management simulation game free to play for a limited time as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

The Farnham-based developer said Two Point Museum will be available on Steam and Xbox until 22 June, while PlayStation Plus Premium users can access a two-hour trial indefinitely.

The announcement was made in a livestream alongside publisher SEGA, with the studio also teasing further announcements over the next six months of celebrations.

Studio director Gary Carr said: "This month is a celebration for the rest of the year, so there's lots of exciting things to be announced over the next six months."

Founded on 26 July 2016, the studio specialises in management simulation games that "don't take themselves too seriously", and has had all three of their games nominated for BAFTA Game awards.

Carr said he had not expected their games to perform as well "because it's so difficult to make something stand out".

"We're really proud to be recognised by both BAFTA and other outlets that reward people for their efforts.

"I'm just pleased that that we've managed to find our one little corner of the industry," he said.

Both he and the chief operating officer, Jo Koehler, credit some of their success to feedback from fans, calling the dialogue with them "really helpful".

"I think really the community has become this extra developer on the team," Koehler said.

"Games now aren't made in isolation like they used to be where you have no real relationship with the players; now the games are live and we constantly use our forums and our community managers to feedback."

Along with the free gameplay, the studio also released the first episode of 'Two Point Cinematic Universe', an animated series where fans can follow their favourite characters from the Two Point world.

The series is available to watch on YouTube.
