Manslaughter accused in court after fatal attack

A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a man died following an altercation at a pub in South Yorkshire.

The victim, who was in his 50s, was found with serious injuries at the Star Hotel in Cudworth, Barnsley, just before 23:30 BST on Friday, and was taken to hospital where he later died.

Liam McGuire, 34, of Stocks Lane, Barnsley, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Monday.

No pleas were entered during the hearing and McGuire, who was remanded in custody, will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 12 October.
