Families can learn more about their environment at the Big Nature Day

A historic estate is hosting a day to celebrate Exmoor's landscapes and wildlife.

The Exmoor society is celebrating Big Nature Day at Nettlecombe Court near Williton.

The event includes guided nature walks, creative workshops, children's activities and talks about nature in the area.

A spokesperson for the society said: "The day offers a packed programme of hands-on creative workshops, guided nature walks, live performances, delicious food, inspiring stalls, and fascinating talks from some of Britain's best-known environmentalists."

The National Trust, Exmoor National Park Authority, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust, West Country Rivers Trust and Butterfly Conservation are also at the event to inform people of their work.

Part of the programme will be talks with environmental voices such as Derek Gow and Matthew Oates as well as nature writing sessions with the eminent nature writer Sara Hudston and local poet Graeme Ryan.

There will be a preview screening of Balancing the Scales, a documentary created by The Beaver Trust, which explores the opportunities and challenges of introducing Beavers to the landscape.

There are also some free family activities, including forest school sessions, crafts, face painting, and art workshops.
