Airport issues warning to passengers over road delays

Bournemouth Airport has warned passengers to leave extra time for their journeys

Passengers due to fly from Bournemouth airport on Monday are being advised to allow extra travel time after the closure of a main road following a fire.

A van caught fire on the A31 near Ringwood in the New Forest on Sunday evening with the flames quickly spreading to the neighbouring heathland.

National Highways says the A31 in Hampshire is closed in both directions. The westbound carriageway is closed between the M27 J2 (Ower) and the A338 (Ringwood). The eastbound carriageway is closed between the A338 and M27 J1 (Cadnam).

A total of 26 fire engines, four water carriers, six off-road vehicles and multiple command vehicles are on scene.

The road is a main route to the airport from the east.
