Wellbeing sessions launch for city residents
The HALO Project CICA new programme of events aimed at providing practical health and wellbeing support for adults has been launched.
The HALO Project has been developed in response to research which identified health and wellbeing as a priority in several neighbourhoods across Truro.
It will have a particular focus on people aged 20 to 49, as a group identified as currently underserved by local services
Jamie Thomson, from the project, said: "We want people to feel more confident in managing their own wellbeing – whether that's handling stress, improving sleep, or building healthier routines."
The project will hold a series of community-based sessions in local venues in evenings and at weekends, and other times depending on demand.
The sessions will focus on areas including improving physical health, emotional wellbeing and stress management.
The initiative was commissioned by Truro City Council's Community Development Department and delivered by the HALO Project SW CIC, with the first sessions set to begin in June.
The council said the project formed part of its wider efforts to create "stronger, healthier communities through locally delivered support and preventative initiatives".
Damien Richards, community development officer at the council, said: "We know from our data and community engagement that there is a clear need for accessible wellbeing support in Truro.
"This programme is about supporting the whole person – not just mental health, but physical wellbeing, confidence, and resilience in everyday life."
A survey of residents is also planned to help shape future delivery of the programme and wider community development work.
