Attempted murder arrest after boy 'drives at police'

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after "deliberately driving at" police officers in Leicester.

Officers were called to Tudor Road at about 04:15 BST on Monday after a reported burglary.

Leicestershire Police said a suspect "attempted to evade arrest by making off in a vehicle", ramming five parked cars before driving at the officers, then abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

A police dog found the suspect "in dense undergrowth", a force statement said.

As well as being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the boy was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing criminal damage.

Police said he had been released on bail while investigations continued.
