Boy, 5, seriously injured after being hit by car

A five-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was reportedly hit by a car as he was playing in the street, police said.

Officers were called shortly after 14:00 BST on Saturday to reports of a collision in the Elizabeth Street area of Scunthorpe.

Humberside Police said it would like to hear from the driver of an ice cream van that was seen in the area at the time, who may have witnessed the incident and could help with the investigation.

The force also asked for anyone else who was in the area at the time or has dashcam footage to get in touch.
