Tech start-ups building secures planning approval

It looks like it is clad in something mimicking wood, but is just a drawing so will not look a great deal like the finished building. It has the air of a typical business centre, not quite a shed but somewhat clinical, functional like a teaching block or library at a new university.Cumberland Council
The Industrial Solutions Hub at Cleator Moor will offer space for tech start-ups

Plans for a centre offering support to fledgling manufacturing, robotics and AI businesses have been approved.

The Industrial Solutions Hub (ISH), set to be built at Cleator Moor in Cumbria, is meant to act as a focal point for the regeneration of the Leconfield Estate and wider area, according to Cumberland Council.

The development will offer workspace and meeting rooms for start-ups and early-stage businesses.

Mark Fryer, leader of the Labour-run local authority, which co-submitted the application to its own planners, said he was confident the hub would "support the foundation for future investment" in the area.

Gary McKeating, ISH managing director, claimed the hub would "create a collaborative environment where industry, academia and innovators can come together".

The development of an enterprise campus on the industrial estate forms one aspect of the Cleator Moor Town Deal - a scheme aiming to revitalise the area using just over £22.5m awarded by the government and a further £18.4m in match funding.

Other objectives include bringing buildings back into use in the Town Square area, increasing sports and leisure provision and improving transport connections.
