Museum petrol bomb reports a 'hoax', say police
TVP OxfordReports of a museum being targeted with petrol bombs, sparking a police response, turned out to be a hoax, officers have said.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) said six fire trucks, five police vehicles and Oxford security officers were sent to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History on Saturday night.
In a post on social media, TVP Oxford said: "Thankfully, there was no threat to the museum, or the dinosaurs."
It added that "whilst it was a great VIP experience of the history museum", it "would rather not" send vehicles and officers to "fake jobs".
The local policing team thanked the venue's security staff for their assistance during their enquiries.
