Proposals for 500 new homes in town
BBCPlans are being drawn up to build 500 new homes in part of Shropshire.
Agents acting for Harrow Estates said they also wanted to create space for businesses on the land, which is on the eastern edge of Shifnal.
The proposed site is close to Idsall School as well as the town's football club and the agents, Tor&Co, said a new car park would be built to support both and there would also be a new "country park".
In a previous submission to Shropshire Council, the agents said the land would help the county meet its obligations to provide housing for neighbouring Black Country authorities.
They said Shifnal was a large town "able to accommodate additional employment and housing" and had good transport links through the railway line and the nearby M54.
But they said the town was "becoming more unsustainable through outward commuting," and the creation of more employment land would help correct that.
The agents also said the 500 homes they were proposing would include a number of affordable homes, but did not give a number.
The company arranged a consultation event to take place on the afternoon of 15 July at Idsall School.
