'I'm Mandy Burnham' - Quaker chaplain is lookalike for new prime minister

A woman dubbed a lookalike of the new prime minister is "leaning into" the comparisons and has changed her name to "Mandy Burnham" on social media.

Emma Roberts from Swansea said she thinks "it's the eyebrows and the glasses" that make the resemblance to Andy Burnham, so much so that even her own mother agrees with the TikTok commentators who have pointed that out.

She said it was "a bit of fun", but didn't expect to go viral.

Roberts said the prime minister was "clearly a good communicator but it had only been one week" - although she said his tea-making skills were an "abomination".

The Quaker chaplain usually posts about religion on social media, but said people would comment on her posts describing her as the Labour leader's doppelgänger.

"This just went on and on, and two more TikToks went viral and ended up with a quarter of a million views, and then someone said change your name to Mandy Burnham, so I thought why not?"

The 54-year-old added that Burnham sounded like a "decent bloke" and she was keen to speak with him about his Catholic upbringing.

"I don't know him, but he sounds decent," she said adding that she "loved his pub snacks video".

"On the whole his communication strategy has been very good but one of the abominations that he talks about is putting milk in with the teabag first. I mean he needs a talking to.

"That is just awful."

Roberts said even her mum agreed with people on TikTok that she was a dead ringer for Burnham, with her partner Iona calling her Mandy.

She added that she didn't expect her posts to go viral, or for it to be a lucrative career, but described it as "a bit of fun".

She hopes that, maybe one day, Andy will join Mandy on TikTok for a chat.

But definitely not a cup of tea.
