New £15.5m car park set to open
East Riding of Yorkshire CouncilA new £15.5m multi-storey car park is due to open next month.
The 426-space site between Manor Street and Hilderthorpe Road in Bridlington features a wave pattern to reflect its seaside location, East Riding of Yorkshire Council said.
Work included diverting the nearby Gypsey Race stream, which will have a green space built around it.
The council said the car park was designed to boost the number of visitors to the area and would "relieve local traffic congestion, support local businesses year-round and be a key piece of the wider town centre regeneration strategy".
It will have direct access to the town's main shopping area and will feature 31 accessible parking bays and electric vehicle charging points.
Council leader Anne Handley said: "The opening of the new car park is a transformative moment for Bridlington.
"This facility directly addresses historic parking challenges during busy seasons while creating a clean, modern gateway into the town.
"By making it seamless for residents to shop locally and for tourists to explore our brilliant town centre, this multimillion-pound investment will provide a long-term boost to the local economy."
