Officers say they have shut down a "drugs factory" at an industrial unit in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Police said large quantities of cannabis and "huge amounts" of illegal tobacco, counterfeit clothing and perfume were discovered at the unit in Vernon Road, Old Basford, on Monday.

A 59-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and conspiring to distribute goods bearing false trademarks, the force added.

Officers from the City West neighbourhood policing team and Tactical Support Group raided the unit after police received intelligence that it "could be involved in criminality".

Det Insp Julian Eminson-Ferry said: "Thanks to the efforts of the different policing teams involved, we were duly able to make a variety of different discoveries and shut down a drugs factory.

"Large quantities of cannabis were found, while a colossal quantity of counterfeit goods were seized from there as well."
