A photographer has spent more than a decade documenting the landscape around Burton-upon-Trent from the skies.

Jakub Pyrdek has been using a drone to take pictures of the town, sometimes getting up as early as 04:00 to capture the sunrise over various landmarks.

It is part of his project Burton-upon-Trent: Between Nature and Industry, aimed at detailing the area's varied scenes and its history.

"Burton is a town where you have industrial elements like silos and stainless steel pipes, which contrast with Victorian buildings," Pyrdek said.

"This is something unique, this is something interesting - this creation contrast."

He said he moved to the area from Poland 18 years ago and has spent 15 years on his project.

Pyrdek said getting up in the early hours meant he could capture nature's best moments, including the morning mist, sunrises and sunsets over the town's landmarks.

"We are a generation that can use drones for making pictures," he added.

"This can be a very powerful tool for the next generation for analysing that the town is blending with industrial companies and factories."

Pyrdek recently visited the town centre, where he showed people the shots he had taken so far, and he was praised for his "beautiful" images.

One man told the BBC they looked "straight out of a movie".

Pyrdek said he hoped the project would help to keep the town's heritage alive and urged the community to get involved by suggesting what he should be taking pictures of.
