Delayed food waste caddies to be delivered
South Staffordshire CouncilNew food caddies will start to arrive in South Staffordshire homes as part of new recycling laws.
The rules, which came into force earlier this year, means food waste needs to be collected separately.
South Staffordshire Council was one of the 79 English councils that did not meet the government's March 31 deadline, highlighted in an earlier BBC investigation.
Residents will receive one small indoor food caddy and a larger outdoor caddy from this week, ready for the weekly service to begin in June.
Once the service starts, people will be able to recycle all types of food waste, cooked or raw, including:
- Fruit and vegetable peelings
- Tea bags and coffee grounds
- Leftovers and plate scrapings
- Meat, fish and bones
- Bread and pastry
- Eggshells and dairy products
- Pet food
The caddy packs are not to be used until the start of June, said the council, which will contact residents to confirm exact delivery dates.
