Damaged Douglas Promenade crossings to be replaced
BBCDamaged pedestrian crossings on Douglas's Loch Promenade are to be replaced this month.
Areas of the block paving have sunk and a number of bricks have been damaged, the Department of Infrastructure said.
Work on crossings near Victoria Street and Regent Street is due to begin on 19 October and is expected to take about two weeks.
The department said asphalt would be used as a temporary safety measure until the crossings can be replaced with granite.
The department said the work was being carried out "solely on safety grounds".
Other crossings showing signs of wear will also be patched with asphalt over the coming months.
The crossings form part of the Douglas Promenade revamp, which was later found to have more than 900 defects, including trip hazards and uneven road surfaces.

Crossing closures
The works will take two weeks. During the first week, the crossing near Victoria Street will be repaired, with the road kept open under temporary three-way traffic lights.
The crossing near Regent Street will be out of use while that work takes place, with pedestrians directed to the zebra crossing at Howard Street.
In the second week, the zebra crossing opposite Villiers Square, already closed because of nearby building work, will be repaired, followed by the crossing at Regent Street.
