A main road in Northumberland has been closed in both directions after a "serious collision".

Northumbria Police said it was responding to an incident on the A189 Spine Road in Cramlington.

The road has been shut from Moor Farm Roundabout to Laverock Hall Road. Police said it was expected to remain closed "for some time".

Local diversions have been put in place.
