Man dies in fire at Worthing property, police say
Eddie MItchellA man in his fifties has died in a fire at a property in Worthing.
Fire crews were called to the blaze which broke out overnight at Sompting Road, Broadwater, at about 04:00 BST.
Sussex Police has now confirmed that the man was "declared deceased at the scene", and his next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson said "inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the fire".
Eddie MitchellPolice vehicles were seen outside Glawood House, a small sheltered housing complex of studio flats on Thursday daytime.
Sussex Police said a partial closure of Sompting Road that was in place while emergency services were at the scene has now been removed.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue said it sent four crews to tackle the fire.
