A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the M4.

The pedestrian, in his 50s, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene after being struck by the HGV on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway near Membury Services, in West Berkshire, at about 08:54 BST.

The M4 eastbound remains closed between junctions 15 and 14, with long delays in the area. Drivers have been advised to avoid the route while emergency services remain at the scene.

Det Sgt Dominique Roe said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died."

She said officers were carrying out a "thorough investigation" and appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
