Open day to mark port's 50th anniversary

An open day is taking place at Portsmouth International Port as part of celebrations to mark 50 years since it opened.

Portsmouth City Council created the international port in 1976.

The event on Saturday is for residents to "see behind the scenes and find more out about all the activities at their port," the organisers said.

It will also includes harbour tours, onboard vessel visits, and an equipment showcase.

More than 1,800 people attended the open day in 2023.

The event also forms part of the Portsmouth100 celebrations which are marking the centenary of the the naval city which was first granted city status in 1926.
