There will be no criminal prosecutions following the fire at a business park in which two firefighters and a member of the public died, police have said.

Firefighters Martyn Sadler, 38, and Jennie Logan, 30, were both killed in the blaze that engulfed Bicester Motion on 15 May 2025, along with father-of-two Dave Chester.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said it had concluded its investigation, with no referrals made to the Crown Prosecution Service for charging decisions.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed it was now leading the investigation into the circumstances of what happened.

Two other firefighters were also injured in the fire, which was first reported at about 18:30 BST on 15 May 2025.

It rapidly spread through a former aircraft hangar at the site on Buckingham Road, and a major incident was declared.

Bicester Motion is home to more than 50 specialist businesses, focused on classic car restoration and engineering on the former site of RAF Bicester.

TVP's major crime unit launched an unexplained death investigation following the blaze, alongside fire investigators and the Health and Safety Executive.

Assistant Chief Constable Dennis Murray said: "Our thoughts will always be with the loved ones of Martyn Sadler, Jennie Logan and Dave Chester, as well as the injured firefighters.

"Our thorough investigation into this tragic incident alongside the HSE has now been completed and we are not seeking any prosecutions.

"We have now formally handed the investigation to the HSE and will support the coroner's inquest."

TVP said it was preparing a file for the coroner and would support the forthcoming inquest.

Paying tribute after the fire, the family of Martyn Sadler said being a firefighter was "always in his blood", having previously worked for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and London Fire Brigade.

He was described by his family as "the true definition of a hero".

The family of Jennie Logan said her "bravery and fearlessness shone through right until the end".

Dave Chester's family said he had "died the way he lived – helping others and putting them ahead of himself."
