Raft of road closures as TT film production continues

A raft of road closures are set to come into force over the next two weeks to allow for filming of a new feature film focussing on the Isle of Man TT races to continue.

The Amazon MGM production, called Isle of Man, is set to star Channing Tatum and Eve Hewson, and lists Brad Pitt as a producer.

Several sections of the 37.75 mile (60 km) course will be closed between 7 and 15 August, with some closures starting as early as 04:00 BST.

The length of the restrictions ranging from five to 38 hours, with the longest including the overnight closure of the northern section of the A18 Mountain Road.

These are the planned closures:

A18 Mountain Road

Between Tholt-y-Will and Johnny Watterson Lane (05:00 – 14:00)

Between Ramsey Hairpin and Tholt-y-Will Road (11:00 – 22:00)

A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road (through Sulby and Lezayre)

Between St Jude's Road and Glen Auldyn Road (04:00 – 15:00)

A18 Mountain Road

Between Ramsey Hairpin and the Bungalow at Tholt-y-Will Road (14:00 – 20:00)

A1 Peel Road

Between Quarterbridge Road and Braddan Road (04:00 – 09:00)

Quarterbridge Road

Between Alexander Drive and Peel Road (04:00 – 09:00)

TT Access Road

Between New Castletown Road and Braddan Bridge (04:00 – 09:00)

Glencrutchery Road

Between Victoria Road and the junction with Ballaquayle Road at St Ninian's (06:00 – 13:00)

Between the junction with Ballaquayle Road at St Ninian's and Alexander Drive (06:00 – 18:00)

A18 Mountain Road

Between Ramsey Hairpin and Bungalow at Tholt-y-Will Road (from 06:00 on Monday to 20:00 on Tuesday)

A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road (through Glen Helen and Cronk-y-Voddy)

Between Poortown Road junction at Ballig Bridge and the junctions with Ballabooie Road and Little London Road at Cronk-y-Voddy Crossroads (06:00 – 21:00)

Between the junctions with Ballabooie Road and Little London Road at Cronk-y-Voddy Crossroads and Douglas Road Corner in Kirk Michael (18:00 – 21:00)

A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road (through Glen Helen and Cronk-y-Voddy)

Between Poortown Road junction at Ballig Bridge and junctions with Ballabooie Road and Little London Road at Cronk-y-Voddy Crossroads (06:00 – 20:00)

A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road (through Ballaugh Village)

Between Orrisdale Loop Road North junction and the Clennagh Road and Sulby Glen Road junctions (04:00 – 14:30)

Between the Clennagh Road and Sulby Glen Road junctions and the Glen Auldyn Road and Milntown Lane junctions (11:00 – 21:00)

Two contingency periods on Wednesday, 12 August., have also been set out for use if weather or other factors delay or postpone filming:

A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road between the Poortown Road junction at Ballig Bridge and Conk-y-Voddy Crossroads (06:00 – 20:00)

A18 Mountain Road between Ramsey Hairpin and the Bungalow (06:00 and 21:00)

Residents and businesses in the directly affected areas have been sent letters outlining the closures and access arrangements during the period.

Production for the feature also took place during June's TT races, when its stars were seen filming at the Grandstand in Douglas.

The closures for filming fall between a series of restrictions to prepare for the next period of racing on the island, and closures for those events themselves.

The 2026 Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT take place between 16 and 28 August.
