Lifeboats, drones and other rescue services have searched the sea off the Jersey coast after receiving unconfirmed reports of a person in the water.

The search off La Braye began at about 21:45 BST on Wednesday and was called off as the light faded shortly after 23:00 BST.

Jersey Coastguard said no-one had been found but the service believed the call had been made with good intentions.

It added the search was suspended until any further information was received.
