Plan ahead to enjoy Battle of the Flowers parade

Motorists have been warned to expect some delays in St Helier as floats arrive for the Battle of the Flowers.

St Helier Honorary Police has advised people to allow extra time for journeys between 06:00 and 09:00 BST and to take extra care around large moving floats and support vehicles.

The floral carnival began in 1902 with a parade to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.

The event is set to return to Victoria Avenue after a smaller show was held in the town centre in 2025 when the main event was cancelled due to financial difficulties.

Organisers have warned spectators they cannot bring any alcohol into the event area but will be able to buy drink from licensed bars there.

Random bag searches will be carried out, they added.

There will be free water drinking fountains around the event area which spectators can use to fill their reusable bottles.

The grand day parade on Friday is set to start at 15.00 by the La Motte Ford garage at Rue de Galet and head along Victoria Avenue before finishing at Lower Park.

The moonlight parade is scheduled to begin at 20:45 on Saturday and will run westwards along the arena on Victoria Avenue before it ends at at Rue de Galet.

A fireworks finale is set to take place at about 22.45 which can be viewed from the sea wall along the arena.

Motorists have been reminded that Victoria Avenue and its approach roads will be closed between Bel Royal and West Park from 11:30 until 10:00 on Friday and again from 17:00 until 23:59 on Saturday.

St Helier Honorary Police said Victoria Avenue between First Tower and West Park would remain closed until 02:00 on Sunday.
