A woman caught with £113,000 of drugs and a recipe for crack cocaine has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Alisha Bain, 35, admitted being involved in drug dealing after cocaine and heroin was recovered in a police raid at her home in Aberdeen

Thousands of pounds in cash was also found at the property in Deer Park Drive in December 2024.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Lady Ross said: "You must know cocaine and heroin cause misery and suffering every day across Scotland."

The court heard that Bain was seen by police, who were carrying out surveillance, driving into her street before approaching a van carrying a bag.

The bag was passed through a passenger window of the vehicle before it was returned to her and she went into her home.

Advocate depute Lisa Gillespie KC told the court that Bain was a single parent with two previous convictions, but had never served a jail sentence before.

'Intelligent woman'

Defence counsel Bill Adam told the court that Bain had a supportive family who would look after her child while she served a prison sentence.

He said: "She is very remorseful at having become involved in this enterprise in which, I would suggest, she played a subordinate role."

Lady Ross told Bain that she was an "intelligent woman" who had worked in the health service for the last 10 years.

The judge told Bain that if she had not pleaded guilty she would have been jailed for five years.

Det Sgt Rachael Maclennan, of Police Scotland, said: "Drugs can have a devastating impact on our communities, and we remain committed to getting harmful substances off our streets and holding those involved in their supply accountable."
