The fire is affecting a large field of cut straw, the fire service said

Multiple crews are at the scene of a field fire involving two acres of cut straw in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze, off Nottingham Road, Nuthall, at 14:44 BST by the land owner.

A spokesperson for the fire service said seven crews had been deployed to the scene.

The fire service added it had received reports that the smoke could be seen from the M1 and urged nearby residents to keep their windows and doors shut. People have been asked to avoid the area.
