A man has died after a crash on the M5 in Gloucestershire.

Emergency services were called at about 12:20 BST on Wednesday after a white Luton van collided with a Volkswagen Transporter and came off the northbound carriageway near junction 9 for Tewkesbury.

Gloucestershire Police said the driver of the van, a man in his 30s and from Warwickshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force said the occupants of the Volkswagen Transporter were not seriously injured.

The M5 northbound carriageway was closed between junction 11 for the Golden Valley Interchange and junction 9 for Tewkesbury for more than 16 hours but reopened earlier.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or has any relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
