Oasis have donated VIP tickets to one of their UK reunion tour shows as part of a charity auction to help protect grassroots sport in London.

The auction will raise money for the London Playing Fields Foundation, which operates seven grounds across six London boroughs.

The Gallagher brothers first supported the charity last summer through the "7 Shows, 7 Fields" campaign, which linked each of Oasis's seven Wembley Stadium concerts to a different playing field in the capital.

Alex Welsh, from the London Playing Fields Foundation, said: "I'm just so thankful that Liam and Noel played all that football on those fields in south Manchester, and they remembered the importance of them."

Welsh said a study at one of its grounds in Walthamstow found that the activities at the site generated at least £4.8m in savings to the public purse over a 12-month period.

He said this was achieved primarily by "reducing crime, anti-social behaviour, and improving health and wellbeing".

The new fundraiser is being organised by London-based interior design company Carden Cunietti.

Co-founder Audrey Carden said she and business partner Eleanora Cunietti had worked with Noel Gallagher and his manager for many years.

The campaign, called The Spring Clean, includes an online auction with between 75 and 100 donations from suppliers and other interior designers.

Among the items are a pair of VIP tickets to Oasis's Knebworth House shows next year.

Carden said: "It's really important for people to be able to get outside in a city like London, where there's not a lot of outdoor space for children and adults as well."

The auction runs until 17 November and money raised will support the foundation.
