Mohammad Hassan is set to go on trial in February

A student police officer accused of rape and kidnap has appeared in court via videolink.

Mohammad Hassan, 23, who has been suspended by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), made a brief appearance at Manchester Crown Court.

The defendant, from Failsworth, Greater Manchester, was arrested after an incident on 8 August, when he was off duty. He was later charged with kidnap, rape, a sexual assault, intentional strangulation, theft and dangerous driving.

Judge Alan Conrad KC remanded Hassan into custody ahead of a trial date on 22 February.
