Firefighters have tackled a fire at a block of flats in Southampton.

Firefighters in 10 fire engines along with two aerial ladder platforms were sent to the block on Anglesea Terrace after passers-by reported seeing smoke coming from the five storey building at about 06:00 BST.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said the fire was out shortly before 09:00. Crews from six fire engines, along with an aerial ladder platform and support vehicles, remain at the scene.

People are being urged to avoid the area with road closures surrounding the block near the Itchen Bridge and the football stadium in place.
