Third man charged in connection with stab murder

A third man has been charged with conspiracy to murder after the death of a man who was fatally stabbed outside his home.

Zeshaan Shaukat, 34, died in hospital on 28 August, three days after he was attacked on Ashville Avenue, Hodge Hill, Birmingham at about 23:50 BST on 25 August.

Naeem Mirza was charged with conspiracy to murder and was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, West Midlands Police said.

The 41-year-old was also charged with possession of crack cocaine, the force added.

Police also previously charged two men, Tyrell Phillips, 23 and Mohammed Rakeeb Shafi, 26, of no fixed address, with conspiracy to murder in connection to the incident.

In an earlier tribute, Shaukat's family said he was "incredibly loved by the whole community".

"Losing him so suddenly and tragically is something we cannot begin to describe," they said in a statement issued through police.

"Zeshaan was so much more than a brother and a son. He was a huge part of our family, and his presence, his personality, and the memories we shared with him will remain with us forever."

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with more information to come forward, with extra patrols in the area as the investigation continues.
