Inquest opened into Taylor Charlton's death

An inquest has been opened into the death of a 15-year-old boy whose body was found in a river six weeks after he had been reported missing.

Taylor Charlton's body was found floating near a bridge on the River Taw near Sticklepath, Devon, on 24 June.

A large police search had been conducted in the weeks before his body was found following his last confirmed sighting on a footpath near the Tarka Leisure Centre in Barnstaple at about 22:40 BST on 8 May.

Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney, who said DNA tests on the body confirmed it was Taylor, said the cause of death was unascertained and the inquest in Exeter has been adjourned.
