A man has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife whose body was found in a freezer at their home in West Yorkshire.

David Barraclough, 46, was due to go on trial at Leeds Crown Court charged with killing 37-year-old Carolann Barraclough earlier this year.

However, on the day his trial was due to start, Barraclough, of Ken Churchill Drive, in Horbury, near Wakefield, pleaded guilty to murder.

Judge Andrew Stubbs said the case would be listed for another hearing on Wednesday, when he would look to set a sentencing date.

The court heard Carolann was killed some time between 19 and 21 February, up to 14 days before her body was found when police were called to Ken Churchill Drive on 5 March following a concern for safety report.

Barraclough had previously denied murdering his wife before changing his plea on Tuesday.
